Functional Fitness
A resistance-based class that will work the body to develop functional strength for everyday life.
What is Functional Training?
Functional training focuses on combining the 7 basic movement patterns of the human body in order to adapt and utilise different exercises, which simulate everyday activities, allowing individuals to perform the activities of daily life both easier and without risk of injury.
For example:
Improving your squat technique and building muscle simulates and assists in picking up something from the floor
Performing lunges and building core strength will improve getting in or out of chairs
Completing push presses is equivalent to picking up a child and playing in the park
The purpose of this training is to improve your general fitness. Allowing you to feel better all day, every day! While also working to improve your balance, coordination, strength, and increasing your bodily awareness.

From young people looking to feel healthier to the elderly that are struggling with everyday movement, functional training can be tailored to help you improve your general fitness level while minimising the risk of injury!
Looking to increase your strength or build muscle mass? It’s for you too! Add on that weight and voila! Functional training covers a wide range of exercises from squats to bench presses all muscle groups that will be targeted.

Most of our classes are designed to be open to all abilities and skills, our coaches/instructors will help you feel comfortable during the class and will show you different alternatives so that you don’t miss out!
Experienced Athlete?
We can coach & help even the more advanced members, in our classes, we can tailor exercises to individuals in order to maximise your workout ensuring it suits your needs, and pushes you further towards your goals
Recovering from an injury?
Let us know before joining the class if you’re recovering from a previous injury, making our coaches aware will help us design better exercises to work around your injury to help you get stronger.

What is a typical class?
A typical class will include a warm-up, followed by a variety of functional movements at a high intensity and finish with cooling down and stretches. Exercises may include aerobic exercises, bodyweight exercises and weighted movements. Exercise tools, such as slam balls, kettlebells, free weights, battle ropes are often used in functional fitness workouts.
What should I bring?
Come in comfortable clothing, bring along a bottle of water, and lots & lots of energy…
